MIZEN ROVERS– Now that the 2014 playing season has concluded planning for the 2015 season is well under way.The AGM of the Club will be held on November 29th at the Community Sports Centre and once more we would ask as many as possible to come along and help us plan ahead to keep the success and enjoyment going. A place where there has been success and enjoyment over many years has been in Scór competitions.Organizing the in-house section of that event, which most likely will be held over the Christmas period, is now in train.

Mizen Rovers News

U12 football League Champions 2014.When the Monday sports section of the Irish Examiner cover games played over the weekend they do a little sidebar called the ’60 second report’ under five or six headings. One of these headings is ‘did that just happen’. Well that was the most common sentiment amongst the large crowd at Aughaville on Sunday evening last as referee John Crowley blew the final whistle at the end of extra time in this enthralling football contest. For those of us privileged enough to be at both finals, U13 and U12, the word was could lightning strike twice? And it did, beautifully!!For the second time in as many weeks we witnessed a group of Mizen players show true battling spirit to rescue a game in normal time and then steam roll the opposition in extra time. But this time the opposition were Tadgh Mc Catheraigh, unbeaten all season, and playing on their home pitch. And one more point of note,Mizen had earned their place in this final by going to the home of the mighty Castlehaven four days earlier and conquered the Blue and White in style. There under lights they were captained by Matthew Sheehan who led by example and scored 1-2 in the process. Other big performances on the night came from Patrick Sheehan raising a green flag with an attack from the full back line.Michael O’Driscoll registered 1-4 for the game with Jake Coughlan amassing a massive 2-6.Other scorers were Finnian Aaron and Aoife. Amy O’Driscoll gave a big display against the Haven at corner back but twas only a taste of what was to come in her next outing .Final score C-Haven 5-05 Mizen 5-15
